Frequently, we get asked if someone should vape their CBD or take it orally, like in drops or the paste? This article is not intended to go into the question of whether vaping is healthy or not, although, (insert personal opinion here as I often do in my blogs! LOL), I have to say that if you’re going to smoke or vape something, you’re better off vaping it than smoking it. Of course, this is just my opinion, but, I don’t think anyone will argue with the fact that its seemingly more harmful to take smoke into your body than it is to take a vapor mist.
Anyway, back to the point. The question is: Should I vape my CBD or should I take it in drops or some other oral form? Which is better?
Well, like most things, there’s not a clear cut answer as to which is better. Each way of taking CBD offers pluses and minuses and, ultimately, you simply have to decide which is more important to you. Now, before we get too far along, let me just say that the FDA won’t let us make any claims that CBD used either way will help with any particular health condition. So, this article only touches on how the CBD gets into your body and what it means to you.
Opinions, done. Disclaimers, done. On to the content!
Through conversations with our customers, here’s the main feedback we’ve been given: When they vape or use ejuice, they feel the effects quickly, usually within 30-120 seconds. And, the effects are noticed for about 2-6 hours on average. When customers take the drops or gel/paste orally, they say it typically takes 30-45 minutes before they begin to notice it is in their body. But, the effects typically last 8-12 hours. Now, of course, everyone is different and everyone’s body responds differently to this various means. But, overall, if you’re seeking quick effects, vaping is your choice. If you’re wanting long lasting effects, oral ingestion is your choice.
I think this is why: When you use CBD vape oil or juice, you aren’t getting as much of a concentrated amount of CBD. It IS vaporized into tiny mist particles that get into your lungs and are distributed quickly by the bloodstream located in the lungs, but you aren’t getting a bunch of it. So, usually, you have to vape it several times through out the day to keep it going into your body.
Whereas, when you take it orally, (first, please know that it is advised to take the CBD under your tongue for approximately 90 seconds before swallowing as this allows it to get into your bloodstream quickly and before it goes into your harsh stomach acids which break it down) some of it, albeit a very small amount, goes into your bloodstream from under your tongue. But, the rest then goes down into your stomach and your stomach acids begin breaking it down. Some of it is able to get sent off to the other parts of your body before it is completely broken down and is lost, in terms of having any benefit to your well being. So, you get some quickly, under the tongue, but is in larger molecules which are not ready to be used by the body before it gets some processing done to it….this takes time. Also, some goes into your stomach and that which is not destroyed by the acids, takes time to get broken down and shipped out to the rest of your body….again, time.
Now, when its taken orally, usually people are taking serving sizes in the range of 5-30mg of CBD. So, quite a bit is actually going in, although, we know not all of it gets used. But, still quite a bit goes in, especially compared to what goes in in just a few puffs of vaporizing it. So, big serving, spread over time equals long lasting effects, when compared to small servings in tiny vaporized particles which quickly go into your body’s systems.
Now, again, I have to say, everyone is different. And, I’m sure I’ll hear from someone who says they vape and it last 10 hours or more. And, someone else will tell me that when they take CBD orally, the effects they get happen in 2 or 3 minutes. But, the information provided above is what the bulk of our customers report.
I hope this helps.
