In case you’ve been out of the loop lately, hemp and its various extracts are becoming extremely popular ways to treat a wide range of illnesses.
Most people, however, aren’t acquainted with the different forms of treatment available, thereby missing the opportunity to benefit from them. One of these forms is the substance called CBD.
Hemp CBD can be delivered in a number of ways, but one way that you may not be familiar with is called a tincture. CBD tinctures are a simple, effective way to receive benefits, and they’re worth knowing about.
Understanding CBD Tinctures
Before we get into the details about tinctures, it would be helpful to have a little background about CBD and how it relates to hemp.
People often confuse the two best known active ingredients in products of this kind–CBD and THC. These terms represent two of the most prevalent cannabinoids found in hemp. (For purposes of this article, we are only discussing CBD from hemp and tinctures from Hemp Extract that contains the CBD, or cannabidiol)
Those who experience high levels of anxiety or physical pain can typically benefit from the commonly felt relaxation that CBD provides, with most people finding it a better, safer alternative to opioids and anti-anxiety medication. THC is the cannabinoid found commonly in marijuana that produces a psychoactive high. THC is also found in hemp, but generally in such low amounts that no one feels any sort of high from it. And, for the purposes of this article, all products from hemp are required to have lower than .3% (3/10%) THC. Again, this level is so low that no one feels any sort of high from it.
Many people think that CBD and THC only come from marijuana, but this is not correct. CBD also comes from hemp, making the product available without any connection to marijuana at all. This comes as a surprise to many people, making it a lot easier to access and sell legally in the United States.
CBD Also Comes From Hemp
Molecularly speaking, CBD is the same whether it comes from hemp or marijuana, but there are a few benefits to using hemp that make it a better option for creating CBD tinctures. First, it is widely legal and there isn’t as much of a taboo about it. Marijuana’s name carries a lot of baggage with it, and hemp is a simpler solution to getting CBD in that sense.
Second, hemp has a higher proportion of CBD, making it a better option in terms of volume and potency. Marijuana contains a high ratio of THC and a low amount of CBD, making it a less desirable option to extract CBD from.
Benefits of Using CBD
The primary benefit that has been found by many CBD users is pain relief. This is likely due to the fact that the substance has anti-inflammatory properties which serve to ease a lot of different kinds of pain. Pulled muscles, chronic pain, and arthritis are all generally treatable with CBD.
Reportedly, there are also mental illnesses that can benefit from the use of CBD. Research has shown that epilepsy can be treated by the substance. Social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression have all been reportedly treated with CBD.
You may be thinking, “I don’t want to smoke that stuff!” And that is totally fine. Many people prefer not to smoke anything at all, and this is something that prevents a lot of people from experiencing the medical benefits of hemp in general.
Luckily, for those people who do not wish to smoke, there are numerous alternative options now. Things like brownies, gummies, drinks, and a lot more are all on the market for consumption. What’s nice about these concoctions is the fact that they are finely tuned to bring on certain effects.
Tinctures are one of these products and are quite possibly the easiest to consume and utilize.
What is a CBD Tincture?
Tinctures require a little bit of science to concoct, but it’s not too difficult to understand.
To begin with, a gooey secretion is extracted from the hemp plant. Then, the higher quality products, like those from Highland Pharms, utilize the entire extract to make tinctures. Lesser quality companies use only CBD isolate which is “isolated” out of the extract. Products using only CBD Isolate provide users only CBD. But, products using the full extract provide users ALL of the cannabinoids, phytonutrients and other plant compounds naturally found in the plant. Because of the wide range of additional compounds found in these types of products, most users report better results when using them than if they use products made with just CBD Isolate.
Regardless which form of CBD is used, either the extract or the isolate is mixed into a carrier oil, such as MCT Oil from Coconut or Hemp Seed Oil. This creates the tincture.
To add a little variety, creators have taken to introducing different elements to the mixture to add flavor. Fruity and aromatic flavors are commonly mixed with tinctures to enhance the flavor and effect. Because this substance is so concentrated, it’s always recommended that the doses are small and controlled.
It’s important to carefully measure how much of a tincture you’re taking. The thing that’s so brilliant about tinctures is that they can be seamlessly mixed into meals, drinks, or anything else that you consume orally. This can sometimes allow for the effects to mix, as in the case of chamomile tea.
Tinctures are effective, in part, because the level of CBD that you’re receiving is so easily controlled and monitored. You can receive any amount, big or small, of CBD that you wish to. Simply increase or decrease the number of drops you take. This is extremely important in terms of medical cases.
Will it Get Me High?
Additionally, CBD tinctures from hemp don’t have enough THC to cause any sort of psychoactive high or that makes you anxious. This is a common concern among people. They think that just because CBD comes from marijuana, they will get high and have difficulty interacting with people or going about their day. Since our products are from hemp, this issue does not exist with our products.
With tinctures made with CBD from hemp, you should be fine to carry on about your day. Most people just report being a little bit more relaxed.
